Poker Jargons
In-Game Terms
Blinds - initial bet before dealing the pocket cards. The player directly to the left of the dealer puts in the small blind and the player to his left puts in the big blind. The big blind is always double the small blind and the smallest amount that can be raised when betting.
Flop - first three community cards.
Turn - fourth community card.
River - fifth and last community card.
Chips - currency used in betting and exchanging money in poke.
Action - player's turn to act in every betting round. He has the option to check, raise or fold.
Bluff - bet that is made to represent a strong hand, but really a weak hand, to force opponents to fold and give up the pot.
Muck - when its time to show cards after the betting rounds, player does not show his cards but folds them. Usually made by players when they know they do not have any chance to win the pot and to avoid having to show their hand to the table.
Draw - card needed by a player to form a 5 card combination. May be a number to form a straight, suit to form a flush, or a specific card to form a full house, quads or straight flush.
Runner-Runner - cards that came out during the turn and river helped the player win the pot. Normally, chances of winning was weak during the flop but improved in the succeeding community cards.
Pot - the accumulated amount from all bets.
Rake - the take of the house which is usually a percentage of the total pot. Normally 5% or 10% of the total pot for each hand.
Player Terms
Fish - an unexperienced player who do not have good poker skills and strategies.
Shark - opposite of a fish, an experienced player who uses good poker logic and techniques.
Whale - a high roller who plays a lot of money on the table.
Donkey - someone who likes to play poor starting hands and beats good starting hands.
Tight - someone who only plays good starting hands.
Loose - someone who plays a wide array of starting hands.
Tilt - happens to a player who he loses patience on the table. The player plays too loose and overplays every hand to win the pot.

Rockets/ Bullets - two aces as a starting hand, the best starting hand in texas hold'em.
Cowboys - two kings as a starting hand, the second best starting hand in texas holdem.
Ladies - two queends as a starting hand, the third best starting hand in texas hold'em.
Big Slick - an ace and a king as a starting hand.
Worst Hand in Poker - seven and a two, off suit.
